Eleanor - Two Weeks {South East Portland, OR}

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Baby Eleanor was exactly two weeks old the day I photographed her, and already, was showing a mind and will of her own. Her mommy, Robin, and I had hoped she would be sleepy and drift off to dreams for our session. Of course, her eyes were wide and bright my entire visit. On the upside, what beautiful eyes they are!

Robin is a friend and former co-worker, and its just an amazing thing to see her in this new role as a mother. She's a complete natural, and Eleanor is very, very lucky to have Robin and her husband, Marcus, as parents.

Welcome to the world, Eleanor!

Laney + Benjamin {Rose City Park, Portland, OR}

Sunday, July 31, 2011

I am really getting to know Portland's (and Vancouver's!) Park system this summer, as I photograph families in their favorite places around the metro area. I generally like to arrive 45 minutes early to get a feel for a new park setting, and photograph small details that make a location unique.

That was my plan when I met up with Laney and Benjamin's family. As I walked around the vast park, planning out shots and capturing small details, I made my way to the far side to capture the "Rose City Park" sign. Except, as I walked up to the sign, with about 5 minutes prior to start time, the sign read "Normandale Park". Oh dear! I sprinted through the park, frantically asking passersby for directions to the actual park, and finally was pointed in the right direction. Thankfully I was only about six blocks off.

Needless to say, there are no "park detail" shots (at least from the real Rose City Park) to speak of. That's okay though, because there are plenty of adorable shots of this awesome family. Seriously, when will my streak of ridiculously gorgeous and photogenic families end? Beautiful Benjamin slept through most of the shoot, and big sister Laney, who happens to never stop moving, managed to photograph beautifully, even on the go.

I sure love this job!

Baby Trent - Seattle WA

This Baby...
has been hoped for,
prayed over, longed for,
loved.

This baby
has so very many people who love him.

And yet...

Not a single living person, only God, knew he existed until the very day he was born.

DSC_0821-1

Not his parents, grandparents, no doctors, not even the young woman who carried him, until the moment she gave birth to him in her bathtub. Imagine her shock! She had not expected him. And yet...

She loved him.

And she gave him a great gift. She chose the very best people I can think of to be his parents. Congratulations to my best friend and her husband on their miraculous baby boy! Photographing him on his 6th day of life was amazing; he is truly one of the most beautiful babies I've ever seen.

I look forward to being his "auntie" for at least the next 18 years!
